I came upon the passport of a young Korean girl adopted into the United States sometime in the 1970’s. I have used her photo in my silent girl series many times, trying to explore that experience through the eyes of this beautiful little girl. Silent, brave and facing a new experience with wonder and calm. The paperwork that accompanied her arrival described her as “helpful, fond and bright”.
